C

urriculum

Religion is the integrating factor in the school curriculum.  Religion instruction is given daily.  Opportunities for preparation and participation in celebration of the Mass are provided on a regular basis.  Other religious activities include various prayer services and seasonal devotions.  Parents/guardians are invited to participate in these activities.

Holy Trinity School meets the standards required for the State of Ohio with regard to student attendance days, length of school days, time allotments for subjects, and the basic curriculum.

The basic curriculum consists of the following:  Religion, Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, Health, Directed Physical Education, Music, Art, Computer and Citizenship.  An effort is made to address the topics of career Education, Human Relations Education, Multicultural Education, Energy and Resource Conversation Education, and study skills throughout the basic curriculum.  The Diocesan Curricula and the approved textbooks are used the Holy Trinity School.  Besides the basic textbooks, a variety of supplementary textbooks and materials are utilized at all grade levels.

Physical Education

All children participate in Physical Education classes weekly.  The Physical Educational uniform is a requirement and must be worn for each Physical Education class.  Parents/Guardians are to see that their children have gym clothes on the respective class days.

Sacramental Programs

Parents/guardians are required to participate in the parent meetings prior to their child's reception of the Sacrament of Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation.  It is the parents'/guardians' privilege, as well as, serious responsibility to assist their child in preparation of the reception of these sacraments.

Auxiliary Services

Holy Trinity School receives state money which provides for auxiliary personnel and services.  These staff members, employed through Avon Local Schools, provide services to the students at Holy Trinity School in the modular unit located on the property.  Through these state funds, a school Nurse, a Speech Pathologist, a school Psychologist, two (2) Learning Disabilities teachers, a Health Aide and a clerk are employed.  A speech program provides complete diagnostics in the following areas: articulation, language (receptive and/or expressive), stuttering, auditory perception and voice problems (remediation only after ontological evaluation).  A student may be referred for a routine speech/language screening (done by the Speech Pathologist) by a parent/guarding, the classroom teacher, school nurse, or family physician.  Routing hearing screenings are provided by the Speech Pathologist and the school nurse.  Due process procedures are following before diagnostics and/or speech therapy are initiated.  Where learning disabilities diagnosed through psychological testing and conferences can be helped by a Learning Disabilities teacher, these services are available.
