Saint Baldrick's Event
Holy Trinity School Raises Over $31,000 in 9th Annual St. Baldrick’s Event to Support Childhood Cancer Research
What began nine years ago as a small act of kindness has grown into one of Holy Trinity School’s most cherished and impactful traditions. This year’s St. Baldrick’s Event raised more than $31,000 to help fund critical childhood cancer research and add to a remarkable $230,000 total that reflects the school community’s unwavering compassion and faith in action.
“This year’s total is enough to fund a clinical trial for two children through their treatment and pay the salary of a research scientist in the lab for six months — absolutely incredible,” said Michael Modzeleski, Head of Holy Trinity School.
The day was filled with joy, courage, and community spirit as students, families, and staff gathered to support 45 students, faculty and family members who braved the shave or donated hair. Holy Trinity was once again honored by the presence of Mayor Bryan Jensen, whose continued support for the cause and the school community means so much each year.
Several local barbers and stylists volunteered their time and talent to make the event possible: Bob Catanza and Marie Knill (Catanza’s Barber Shop), Caitlin Walker (Unity Beauty Salon), Gabbie Sterling (Sterling Studio, LLC), Emily Smith (David’s Beauty Bar), Nick Hilf (Duck Island Barber Shop), and Suzie Norman (A Cut Above). Nick Hilf, raised more than $300 from his clients.
Another highlight of the day was the Hair Braiding Station, which raised $1,280 for Project Outrun, a charity that empowers children with cancer to design their own sneakers to “Outrun Cancer.”
“This event continues to be one of the most meaningful traditions at Holy Trinity,” said Modzeleski. “We are so proud of every student who shaved, donated hair, volunteered, or cheered on their classmates. The compassion and generosity of this community are truly inspiring.”
Holy Trinity looks forward to celebrating the 10th anniversary of this beloved tradition next year.
